Artificial nails have been around for a long time. And the art of applying artificial nails has been perfected to a tee. There are many benefits to artificial nails: Artificial nails are more durable then natural nails. Nail polish lasts much longer and usually doesn't chip. It's rare to break an artificial nail. There are 4 main types of artificial nails: Sculptured nails, Acrylic nails, Nail wraps using China silk, linen and or fiberglass and liquiid uv gel nails. Each type has it's own benefits and disadvantages, depending on your lifestyle.

The artificial nails are not a replacement, but an extension for natural nails. There are two main approaches to creating artificial nails: tips and forms. Tips are made of lightweight plastic plates that are nail shaped. They are glued on the end of the natural nail and acrylic is then applied over the entire nail. Forms are fitted over the nail and then an artificial nail is molded out of acrylic and the form is removed and then properly shaped, filed, and buffed to a shine.
